Wildflower Center sale

fall asters

It was a beautiful day for the Wildflower Center plant sale. The fall asters were blooming everywhere– I don’t know how or why I left without buying any, but I did. We did come home with:

Possumhaw, Ilex decidua
Gregg’s mist flower
Prairie rose
Cenizo
Gregg’s salvia
yarrow
Gulf Coast muhly
Twistleaf yucca
coral honeysuckle
Blue shrub sage, Salvia ballotiflora
Southern shield fern, Thelypteris kunthii
… and a quarter-pound of perennial wildflower seeds.

There was really amazing diversity this time. They had a lot more plants available, and a lot more species.

Here is a plant I had never seen before. It was not available at the sale, but I am going to keep my eye out for this one. I think it’s really pretty.

I am also going to keep this little pond in mind when I’m planning my future water feature. It trickled just the right amount, is just the right size, and it fit in nicely with the native landscape.

I went to the Wildflower Center plant sale, as well! I was very impressed with the selection – especially the selection still available at 3pm when I got there. Of course, some of the stuff that was sold out, I wanted. I reeeeeally want some fall aster, but haven’t managed to get my hands on any yet.
